FAQ

  • A Life-Cycle Celebrant is a professional ceremonialist who harnesses the power of ritual and ceremony to honor life’s important milestones. Celebrants write and officiate ceremonies that mark transitions from birth to death. If you can dream it, a Life-Cycle Celebrant can design a ceremony for it.

A Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant is masterfully trained through the Celebrant Foundation and Institute (CFI), which sets the gold standard in Celebrant training. Graduates are experts in all areas of ceremony design and delivery. One reason Celebrant-led ceremonies are elevated is because CFI trains us in mythology, world traditions, ceremonial story-telling, and public speaking. As a ceremony professional, I abide by a code of ethics, a nondiscrimination policy, and I’m committed to continually improving knowledge and skills.

Celebrants collaborate to design and deliver custom ceremonies that reflect the values, vision, and story of the client. As a Celebrant, I do not represent a particular tradition and do not perform cookie-cutter ceremonies. Through thoughtful collaboration, I deliver meaningful ceremonies for each client.

  • My clients are good-spirited, intentional people who care about the importance of the ceremony. They know this is a moment to not take for granted. My clients want to feel empowered to have a ceremony that is authentic and memorable. They want their guests to feel awe-struck and inspired. They choose a professional Celebrant to make sure the ceremony goes smoothly so they can be fully present and enjoy themselves.

My clients run the gamut of spiritual, secular, religious, multicultural, LGBTQ+, interfaith. I work with people of all backgrounds, including those who may not be recognized by traditional communities.

My clients may not initially know exactly what they want the ceremony to look like but they know they want an elevated experience for themselves and their loved ones. Together, we make that happen.

  • The need for ceremony is embedded in all lineages, everywhere. It’s as important as our need for stories and community. Humans have been conducting ceremonies to mark important changes - seasonal, personal, communal - since time immemorial. Over time, however, we began to move so quickly that we forgot to slow down, rest, reflect, and make meaning of life’s changes.

Now, on the rare occasions like weddings, graduations, and funerals that we come together to honor the changes, we can miss the point. These important moments have become impersonal and lack the depth needed to recognize the change. We leave these experiences feeling like something was missing. How often have you left a ceremony and wondered what just happened? Or perhaps you didn’t feel anything at all? That’s the effect of “rinse and repeat” ceremonies.

But the tide is turning. More and more people want to experience an authentic moment of personal and communal witnessing. To be really seen and honored for the changes occurring. And the best way we know how to do that is through personalized ceremony.

Custom ceremonies offer the chance to pause and reflect on the life you’re making. They’re a gift to the people going through them and the community because it’s a chance to step out of busy reality and step into a special space of belonging. That feeling of belonging is why I do custom ceremonies. I have felt it’s importance and I love to help others feel the same.

  • I conduct ceremonies all through the heartland, especially in the KC Metro, Lawrence, and Topeka areas. I also travel for destination ceremonies.

The location of your ceremony can be anywhere meaningful to you. Classic venues are lovely. Unexpected places are fantastic. I have traveled my whole life and love a great adventure. The possibilities are endless.

  • I am a Life-Cycle Celebrant certified through the Celebrant Foundation and Institute and ordained through both the Universal Brotherhood Movement and Universal Life Church. I can legally officiate your wedding wherever it takes place.

After the ceremony, I will file your marriage license with the appropriate county clerk.

  • Yes! If you’re considering gifting my services to a loved one, your generosity is celebrated here! I offer certificates for these special gifts.

  • The pandemic has taken it’s toll. But that hasn’t stopped our yearning to mark important milestones. If in-person gathering is not safe for your situation, I also hold virtual ceremonies (for non-marriage ceremonies).

I am fully vaccinated, follow CDC guidelines for public safety, and lead ceremonies that do the same.
